The Stage & Screen Society was founded in March 2024 at the United Arts Club, Dublin.

We are a creative community dedicated to theatre and film, bringing together actors, writers, directors for performances, workshops, rehearsals, readings and collaborative events throughout the year.

See below for details of our first reading of 26 September which will comprise three plays by W.B. Yeats.


On Saturday 26 September, from 1–4 p.m., we will gather around the table to read and explore three of Yeats’s works:

  • Cathleen Ni Houlihan
  • The Words Upon the Window-Pane
  • Purgatory

Tabletop Readings are a space for theatre-makers, writers, performers and audiences to come together to read, listen, discuss and explore dramatic work in a relaxed and intimate setting.

The tradition of bringing artists together at the United Arts Club to engage with plays and new ideas continues with this autumn series.

On Saturday 10 October, from 1–4 p.m., we will gather around the table to read and explore Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of being Earnest:

A wonderfully sharp and playful work of mistaken identities, social conventions, romance and wit, The Importance of Being Earnest offers plenty to explore through a shared reading of the text.

The tradition of bringing artists together at the United Arts Club to engage with plays and new ideas continues with this autumn series.

A 7-week theatre lab (27 – September 14 November) at the United Arts Club for actors, writers & performers, culminating in two public performances of new work.

The United Arts Club Theatre Lab

Seven weeks of making, exploring and performing theatre at the United Arts Club.

The United Arts Club Theatre Lab is a collaborative programme for actors, writers, performers and curious creatives interested in exploring theatre through rehearsal, experimentation and performance.

Over seven Sunday sessions, participants will come together to explore and rehearse three works from the theatrical canon:

Oscar Wilde — A Florentine Tragedy
Anton Chekhov — The Marriage Proposal
Lady Gregory — The Shoelace

The programme culminates in two public performances in the United Arts Club’s Function Room:
